Treatment of Vague Eye or Amblyopia

What is Amblyopia?

Amblyopia, also known as ‘lazy eye’, is a visual condition in which one eye does not develop normal vision during childhood, resulting in decreased visual ability in that eye.

This condition occurs when the brain and the affected eye do not work together properly, leading the brain to rely more on the healthy eye. It is the leading cause of vision loss in children and affects approximately 3 out of every 100 children.

Identifying and treating amblyopia early can prevent visual difficulties in the future.

Treatment and recovery

Treatment of amblyopia focuses on stimulating the weaker eye to improve vision and coordination. It often includes various strategies, such as patching, vision therapy exercises and the use of glasses to correct refractive errors.

Vision therapy focuses on specific exercises that stimulate and work on the weaker eye, thus balancing the visual function between both eyes and promoting binocular vision.

In these cases, it is essential that amblyopia is detected and treated as early as possible.
